Should Blogs be graded?

The other day I read an idea on #edchat about using rubrics to grade student blog posts. At the time I was dismissive because the ideanseemed to oxymoronic to me. I mean, as adults, there is nobody looking over our shoulders and grading us or censuring us on our own Blog posts, so whymshouldmwe impose such artificial limits and Controls on ourmstudents' self expression when know perfectly well that such restrictionism would curtail our own use of the technology?
